HOME 2023
Now in its fifth year, the HOME Refugee Steering Committee at the Lynden Sculpture Garden invites you to observe HOME 2023: WORLD REFUGEE DAY in a series of outdoor events and programs that celebrate Milwaukee's refugee communities through art, food, fashion, and performance.
HOME is the theme of our work with refugee community leaders, community members, Call & Response artists, and allies. The HOME Refugee Steering Committee is building a space of leading, coming together, and celebrating refugees
Our first gathering will be on June 20, the day the UN has designated World Refugee Day, at Milwaukee City Hall, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. The event, co-hosted with the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families – Bureau of Refugee Programs will include art, music, dance, and poetry from refugee communities, hands-on art making activities, and food trucks.
Our WORLD REFUGEE DAY celebrations continue with a series of HOME “days” on Lynden’s grounds:
• WORLD REFUGEE DAY, Sunday, June 25, 11 am to 4 pm
• MUSIC AND DANCE DAY, Saturday, July 15, 11 am to 4 pm
• AUGUST CRAFT MARKET AND FASHION DAY, Saturday, August 19, 11 am to 4 pm
• SEPTEMBER CRAFT MARKET, Saturday, September 16, 11 am to 4 pm
